Activity Title: Health and Livelihood Seminar-Training: Understanding Dengue and the Importance of Personal Hygiene with Medical Consultation and Training on Malunggay Rice Chips under the GAWA Project

The College of Teacher Education’s Botolan campus, under the IPsibol Kami Naman – CTE Functional Literacy Extension Program, successfully conducted a Health and Livelihood Seminar-Training. The event started with the registration of participants facilitated by the Secretariat/YES-O team/student officers from San Juan Elementary School Annex.

The formal program commenced with an Invocation, followed by the playing of the National Anthem, the Bagong Pilipinas Hymn, and the PRMSU Today AVP.

Opening Remarks were delivered by Dr. Rene B. Regaspi, Campus Director, who highlighted the importance of the seminar-training in promoting health awareness and livelihood skills in the community.

This was followed by Welcome Remarks from Hon. Leo C. Dalin, Barangay Chairperson of Brgy. New San Juan represented by Brgy, Kagawad Jannette Nimo , who warmly greeted the attendees and emphasized the significance of the university’s support for local communities.
Hon. Salvador A. Dimain, Tribal Chieftain, also shared his insights, thanking the organizers for their efforts in bringing valuable knowledge and skills to the indigenous communities.

The program continued with a presentation on The Rationale of the Activity led by Dr. Zenaida D. Umayan, Chairperson of CTE. She explained the objectives of the event, focusing on raising awareness about dengue prevention, personal hygiene, and the livelihood opportunities offered through the Malunggay Rice Chips training under the GAWA Project.

We extend our appreciation to our University officials for their continuous support, led by our University President, Dr. Roy N. Villalobos #VnaMayPuso; VP for Research and Development, Dr. Marlon Dedicatoria; University Extension Director, Dr. Celeste Orge; Campus Director, Dr. Rene Regaspi; and Campus Extension Coordinator, Prof. Josephine Asinas.

The College of Teacher Education at Botolan campus conducted a one-day seminar-training on Health and Livelihood under the leadership of the College Program Chairperson and Project Leader for the Health and Wellness component, Dr. Zenaida Umayan, and the Project Leader for Livelihood Training, Dr. Rene Regaspi. The activity was coordinated by College Extension Coordinator Ms. Carla Joan Schuck and facilitated by CTE faculty and staff extensionists.

The event was well-attended by community members including the mothers/parents of the grade 4 students beneficiaries, student leaders, farmer beneficiaries and their partners, SJES Annex teachers and staff, Brgy council, Tribal Council, SK Council and other members of the community, reflecting a strong partnership between the university and the indigenous communities in Zambales.
